Air Filters

There are two common types of air filters in most vehicles:

Engine Air Filter: Clean air is necessary for your Toyota's engine to function properly. The engine air filter's job is to block dirt, dust and debris from making its way into your engine, while also letting in the necessary amount of air. A good rule of thumb is to replace your engine air filter every 48,000 km, but this will vary depending on driving conditions.

Cabin Air Filter: The cabin air filter does its job by filtering the air that comes through your ventilation system, thus producing cleaner and safer air for you to breathe. This filter can become clogged over time and need to be replaced periodically.

  • Signs for a new engine air filter: if you experience a decrease in fuel efficiency, you hear unusual sounds coming from your engine, or if your car's exhaust is black
  • Signs for a new cabin air filter: if your air conditioning or heating system's airflow is weaker than usual, or if you experience a strange smell when the system is on

If you are experiencing any of these problems in your Toyota, your air filters may need to be replaced. Schedule a service appointment today.
